The Pressey House is an octagonal shaped house with an ell and an attached barn. It was built in the 1850's and is on the National Registry of Historic Places. The property slopes down to Lake Messalonskee, one of the Belgrade Lakes. Enjoy the kayaks, canoe, paddle boat or the docks. You can do a little fishing, go swimming, or just relax in an Adirondack chair down by the lake.
The Pressey House has four suites - the GRANITE, the ELL, the LOFT, and the TERRACE. The suites are unique in that all of them have private bathrooms, and most have a kitchen area. The kitchens each have a stove, refrigerator and sink. All suites offer wireless internet service for our guests. Feel free to stay for a night, a weekend, a week, or longer. During the OFF-SEASON, we offer special rates for long-term rentals.
On the lower level of the barn, with a ground-level entrance, is the 900 sq. foot TERRACE suite. The main bedroom has a King bed while the second bedroom has two twin beds to accommodate the family. On the same level as the bedrooms, is a bathroom and the kitchen. A few steps down from the kitchen is the living room with sliding glass doors opening onto its own terrace close to the water.
On the upper level of the barn is the 800 sq. foot LOFT occupying two levels. The living room has a large picture window with a wonderful view of the lake! There is a a queen size sleeper sofa in the living room and the kitchen area and bathroom are also on this level. Upstairs in the open loft is a king sized bed with a bay window.
The ELL is on the second floor between the octagon and the barn. Its unique living room and kitchen face out onto a small balcony overlooking the lake. Up a couple of stairs is the bedroom with a king size bed and bathroom. The suite also has room for a rollaway.
Down around the backside of the octagon facing the lake is the private entrance to the Granite Suite. This cozy suite has a fireplace in the living room and the walls are the original granite foundation of the home, which was built in 1850. This is a very unique room, some refer to as the "hobbit suite" due to the characteristics of the space.. The room was completed renovated in 2016 with new windows, carpets, ceiling and lighting. A king bed, queen sleeper sofa and private bath completes the setting.
On the main level of the barn is the common room. A large brick fireplace separates the living room area from the dining area. This is where the coffee, tea and hot cocoa bar is. There are many pieces of furniture for relaxing by the fire or to enjoy your next reading pleasure. There are also many games and puzzels for hours of fun.
